Feedstock Processor
RENEWABLE ENERGY FEEDSTOCK PROCESSOR
Position requires employee to work as part of a team to carry out the necessary processes to ensure proper material handling and cleanliness of the digester.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Unload incoming feedstock trucks and load outgoing product on trucks in a timely fashion, and track all weigh tickets for billing
- Maintains all records, logs and summary documents associated with the operation and analytical tests in a professional and ethical fashion
- Understands and adheres to established safety programs (i.e. lock out/tag out, ladder safety, etc.)
- Process depackaged materials per requirements
- Conduct pre- and post- depackaging inspections per checklists
- Communicates effectively per established workflows
- Maintains high level of housekeeping, orderliness and cleanliness throughout entire plant and campus
- Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in efforts to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs
- Perform all work as assigned while adhering to high standards associated with safety and workmanship
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a high school diploma, or equivalent
- Preferred experience in an organic waste material and/or food processing environment
- Understanding of safe load securement requirements
- Must have an insurance acceptable valid driver’s license
REQUIRED ABILITIES
- Able to operate forklift
- Self-motivated, a self-starter and self-directed to work without close supervision in a team environment
- Hard working, dependable, safety and quality conscious
- Possesses good language skills (verbal & written) to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and to communicate effectively with others
- Basic knowledge of chemicals, their interactions, and safe handling practices
- Reading, writing and basic math skills required
- Available to work any shift, as required, to support a 24/7 operation
- Proper and safe use of hand and power tools
- Must be able to operate trucks, loaders, skid steers, and other similar equipment
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF THE WORKPLACE
- Exposure to loud noises
- Exposure to odorous materials
- Exposure to hazardous and nonhazardous materials
- Exposure to outside work in all weather conditions
- May be exposed to confined spaces
- Some work indoors in a non-temperature controlled environment
- Must be willing to work around dust, oil, grease, chemicals, and other substances
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling and grasping
- Must be able to lift/carry 80 lbs+
- Must have efficient eye-hand coordination
- Work standing or walking for long periods of time
- Ability to work in confined spaces and climb several flights of stairs and ladders
- Hearing, seeing (acuity – near far and depth)
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toed boots and hearing protection)
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Work bending and squatting
- Must be able to work long periods of time, including nights and weekends
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- All other tasks assigned by manager
- Travel required as needed (including air travel)
