Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with Deans and Department Chairs to provide professional development opportunities to address curricula updates and alternative methods of delivery. Assist with faculty development projects for departments. Assisting in monitoring faculty development budgets including transfers and reconciliation. Execute professional development opportunities to support the teaching and learning enterprise. Develop the infrastructure to provide instructional design services and media resources to assist faculty with academic transformation and course redesign for technology integration. Collaborate with departments to implement research projects for determining best teaching practices. Assist in providing instruments for assessing faculty members’ training and professional development requirements. Complete Title III reporting and documents for faculty development. Stay abreast of trends in the field of faculty development by attending professional development conferences and workshops. Perform other duties as assigned by the Office of the Provost/Academic Affairs.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred. Graduate degrees in a field related to instructional technology, instructional design, adult education and/or training and development. A minimum of (3) three years of experience in managing student and/or resource programs, or a related field required; or a combination of training and experience. Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design principles. Three or more years of higher education teaching and administrative experience. Five or more years of experience in providing faculty support and assistance. Strong knowledge of the research process including the design of surveys, collection and analyses of data, and reporting of results. Knowledge of the use of learning management systems including Blackboard, media resources, and instructional technology teaching tools to elevate the level of educational opportunities for students. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and cloud databases; Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire high levels of performance. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Support a diverse group of faculty with varied technology skill levels. Demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving excellence. Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal communication, and team performance skills. Candidates must have the ability to work well with individuals from all areas of the academic community (faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni, friends, and supporters), the federal government, the state government, foundations, the corporate world, and others as appropriate.
Conditions of Employment: This position is Title III grant-funded. Employment is subject to available funding. This is a Non-Union Position. Please be advised, COVID-19 vaccinations are encouraged but not required for faculty and staff to be employed at Bowie State University. This protocol is subject to change.
SALARY: $60,000
