A successful Claims Supervisor will be an integral part of the daily operations of the Claims Department. This position supervises and directs the adjustment and administration of non-standard auto insurance claims within a designated unit involving specialization in or any combination of coverage, liability, property, or auto physical damage, and participates directly in the adjustment of complex or unusual claims. This Claims Supervisor brings prior past experience in the non-standard auto environment to the Company and is able to develop the best practice skills of claims representatives, is accountable for the unit's results, and possesses and demonstrates technical claims competency.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises 3 to 6 claims adjusters and/or examiners
- Mentors, coaches, and trains personnel to achieve desired goals and position objectives
- Proactively assesses claims processes and develops strategies to maintain or improve performance
- Collaborates with employees individually and as a unit to promote accurate and ongoing performance feedback and promote career development
- Conducts daily diary reviews to evaluate claims representatives' performance
- Provides technical support for establishing appropriate reserves for new and ongoing claim investigations
- Possesses and demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possesses and demonstrates computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office Product Suite, i.e. WORD, Excel, PowerPoint. Possesses an ability to quickly gain working knowledge of CIGA's ClaimCenter claim system.
- Demonstrates strong relationship and networking skills to enable cross-discipline solutions to compliance or staffing challenges.

Management / Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall performance and management of CIGA's Access automobile claims and recovery claim administration. Provides vision, direction and guidance to internal and external technical claim staff. Provides a broad range of technical expertise, benchmarking, analysis and reporting of trends to all levels of internal management.
- Manage daily administration of newly reported Access incidents and claims and new law suits received, including but not limited to overseeing the handling of all complex claims and litigation.
- May perform individual case reviews to ensure compliance with claim administration best practices and CIGA policies and procedures.
- Develop strategies, procedures, and training for department.
