Student Assistance Specialist

B.A. /B.S. in Social Services or related fields. Responsible for providing short-term education, prevention and intervention services to students K-12 to build life, social and coping skills.

 

Family Support Specialist –

Bilingual Required

Requires 2-3 years’ experience in related field. Provide case management services, facilitate groups and classes to families and are expected to meet with clients in

their homes, schools or other

community locations.

 

The goal of CHS is to provide students and families the support they need and an opportunity to learn life skills. These positions follow a traditional 10-month school year calendar.

Position:                                  Family Resource Specialist – Bilingual-English/Spanish Required

Hours:                                     Full-Time / Non-Exempt      

Department/ Program:            Oakdale Family Resource & Counseling Center

Reports to:                              Program Coordinator

Salary/ Hourly Wage:              $15.00-$16.00 per hour; DOE

Position Summary: Responsible for providing a variety of reception/front office duties.  Provide families with resource & referrals as needed and to assist with health insurance enrollment applications.

 

Duties:

  1. Answer all phone calls, route to appropriate staff and/or voice mail, take messages as needed.
  2. Greet clients, inform staff, provide information to clients as needed, and assist clients in completing applications.
  3. Accept payments, process necessary paperwork and provide receipts as needed.
  4. Provide resources and referrals to clients.
  5. Process all incoming/ outgoing mail.
  6. Provide word processing support for identified programs.
  7. Make copies as assigned.
  8. Order FRC supplies as necessary, with approval of Program Manager.
  9. Assist with data entry and reporting.
  10. Work with landlord and CHS Administrative Staff regarding facility and maintenance issues.
  11. Maintain room schedule for CHS staff and partners.
  12. Maintain and distribute FRC calendar of events and assist with creating FRC flyers.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Bilingual-English/Spanish required - Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish, fluently
  2. Minimum of 2-4 years of office/secretarial experience.
  3. Experience working with the public/customer service.
  4. Excellent communication skills both verbally and in written form.
  5. Strong organizational skills.
  6. Computer knowledge of the following programs: Microsoft Word and Excel
  7. Ability to multi-task and use good judgment.
  8. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints, if required.
  9. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing, if required.
  10. Valid California driver’s license and Proof of auto insurance coverage.

  6. Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings, in-service trainings, conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor.  This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.
  7. Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
  8. Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork, collaboration and cooperation.
  9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  10. Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  11. Participates in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events.
  12. Preparation of assigned reports, work records, statistical data, job performance evaluations, work plans, etc. in a timely manner.

 

Medical/ Fingerprint Requirements:  This position may require a medical screening and fingerprinting.
