THE POSITION
The Operations Crewleader is responsible to perform a variety of duties related to scheduling, planning, assigning, and prioritizing construction and maintenance related projects; to prepare and maintain project files and related documentation; and to provide technical support to assigned supervisor.
The current vacancy exists in the Community Forestry Division of the Public Works Department. The eligible list established may be used to fill the existing vacancy and any additional vacancies within the Community Forestry, Compost Operations and Green Waste Collection Divisions that occur during the life of the eligible list.

Applicants will be assessed on the application submitted. Due to the volume of applications received, resumes will not be screened for the purpose of determining who is most qualified to compete in the testing process. Applications may be screened to the most qualified applicant pool. It is the applicant's responsibility to fill out the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of their application with complete information and adequate detail. Applicants may be screened to the most qualified and invited to continue to the next phase of the testing process which may include a selection interview.

The City of Modesto Human Resources Department reserves the right to revise the testing process to best meet the needs of the City.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible journey experience performing construction and maintenance work in the assigned area of responsibility.
Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalency supplemented by specialized training in one or more trades areas.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Class A or Class B Commercial California driver’s license with appropriate endorsements, as assigned, earning a permit within 45 days and a license within 90 days of appointment.
When Assigned to Streets Maintenance or Curbs, Gutters, and Sidewalks:
Possession of a work zone safety certificate from International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA), Traffic Control Supervisor Association (TCSA), International Transportation Engineers (ITE), American Public Works Association (APWA), American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), or the Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) within one year of appointment.
When Assigned to Community Forestry:
Possession of a Pesticide Applicator’s Certificate within one year of appointment.
Failure to obtain any of the required licenses/certificates within the prescribed time may result in release from probation or termination.
