The City of Stockton is recruiting for a Recreation Program Coordinator within the Recreation Division of
the Community Services Department. The Recreation Division manages a variety of athletic and
enrichment programs offered at community centers, parks, sports complexes, and event venues.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual who embodies our vision and values to foster our
“Community Grows Here” approach. Successful candidates will possess exceptional communication
skills, knowledge of sports and recreation activities, group dynamics, and the ability to lead high
functioning teams of full-time, part-time, and volunteers in the delivery of recreation services to our
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in
recreation, public or business administration, or a closely related field and one year of experience which
has included recreation program planning and implementation and/or recreation facility supervision.
Additional qualifying experience as outlined above may be substituted for the educational requirement
on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years.
Other Requirements:
• Must possess a valid California driver's license.
• Must possess the physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job.
Essential job functions include leaning, stooping, and bending to set up or break down
equipment; pushing, pulling, and dragging to move equipment; and lifting and carrying
equipment or supplies typically weighing 25 pounds or less.
• Must be willing to submit to fingerprinting as mandated by State law.
• Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and/or other hours as needed.
