Additionally, the candidate will coordinate social media efforts for the University. He/she will regularly write content for blogs, promotional posts for social networks, and copy for websites as necessary. The candidate should understand social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram and stay up-to-date on changes and updates to ensure that the platforms are being used in the best way possible. He/she will train University faculty and staff on current social trends and explain how they impact our industry in particular. Ideally, the candidate will be able to facilitate conversations among people online and interact with others to answer any questions they may have and provide support, and analyze metrics used to measure engagement in social media including creating reports based on those metrics to draw insights from the previous interactions.
The candidate will assist with maintaining the department budget and perform other duties within the scope of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in mass communications or related field from an accredited institution required; must have strong oral and written communications skills; and three years of demonstrated experience working in public relations, social media management, generating publications, media, and community relations. The successful candidate must have graphic design skills, computer skills; Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Indesign, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and others.
