HYDROELECTRIC PLANT TECHNICIAN II
The State of California, Department of Water Resources (DWR),
Delta Field Division, is now accepting applications for testing for Hydroelectric Plant Technician I and Hydroelectric Plant Technician II.
FINAL FILING DATE: October 3, 2019
Testing Date: December 7, 2019
Salary Range (HEP Tech I): $5,730 - $8,796 per month
Salary Range (HEP Tech II): $7,633 - $9,672 per month
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications for admittance to the examination:
HEP Technician I: Education – Completion of an approved two-year (60 semester or equivalent quarter units) technical curriculum in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or computer-science technology at the community college level, or equivalent. (Electrical, electronic, mechanical, or computer-science work experience in an electrical utility or equivalent industrial or military facility, may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year of experience being equivalent to 15 semester units.)
(For exams with education requirements) Applicants qualifying under an education requirement MUST provide a copy of their college diploma and/or transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) by the final filing date as proof of completion of the required education. Competitors who fail to provide proof of completion of the required education will be eliminated from the examination.
HEP Technician II: Either I – One year of experience in the California state civil service performing the duties of a classification with a level of responsibility equivalent to a Hydroelectric Plant Technician I, Range B.
Or II – Three years of responsible and varied experience performing testing, calibration, and maintenance of protections systems, monitoring, and control equipment, communications and security systems, metering, and sensors similar to those used in generating/pumping plants, switchyards, and water conveyance facilities; and completion of an approved two-year (60 semester or equivalent quarter units) technical curriculum in electrical, mechanical, or computer-science technology at the community college level, or equivalent. (Additional electrical, electronic, mechanical, or computer-science work experience in an electrical utility or equivalent industrial or military facility, may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year of experience being equivalent to 15 semester units.).
