POSITION DESCRIPTION


The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking an HR Manager of Faculty Affairs to join our team of professionals.

Duties Include:

  • Responsible for the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) faculty appointments and on-boarding process of paid faculty. Ensures faculty offer letters are in compliance with university guidelines, policies, regulations and applicable employment laws.
  • Manages the faculty appointment renewal process, and collaborates with Department Chairs, Office of Medical Education, HWCOM Finance and Dean's Office. Provides guidance and solutions regarding changes to current appointments in alignment with HWCOM and university practice and regulations. Provides analysis and recommendations regarding job responsibilities. Ensures internal procedures/timelines are adhered to avoid interruption to paid faculty appointments.
  • Manages the Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (APT) Committee process to ensure rank approval for all faculty appointments within the HWCOM follow the established procedures. Oversees the submission process and works closely with department contacts to avoid delays in the approval process.
  • Conducts Search and Screen processes for regular faculty positions. Advises the Search and Screen Committees regarding search guidelines and provides strategies for conducting an effective recruitment process.
  • Conducts compensation analysis for faculty positions.  Collaborates with HR leadership team to provide feedback and recommendations to hiring officials. Conducts salary conversations and negotiations with finalist.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of proposals for programs and projects designed to assist the HWCOM achieve its human resources strategic objectives, as well as the evaluation of operational procedures to ensure the efficient functioning of HR.
  • Responsible for the development and management of faculty affairs reporting including American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Conflict of Interest, and any ad hoc reports requested by the Departments and/or university including headcount, diversity, administrative titles, etc. required for accreditation purposes and/or internal use.
  • Develops working relationships with university business units and administrators to facilitate HR faculty affairs operations.
  • Performs essential duties in emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing.  Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification from a department administrator.
  • Performs other related duties as required and deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of the department. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years of professional human resources experience.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Previous experience managing faculty affairs matters.
