Warehouse Manager - 534285

Job Summary:

High school diploma and five (5) years of related experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of appropriate experience. Related experience includes experience in delivery, receiving, storing, and issuing a wide variety of supplies, material, equipment, etc.

  • Ensures that all incoming shipments and deliveries are operating efficiently, effectively and in compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations, university policy and procedures as appropriate.
  • Recommends various personnel functions relating to the warehouses' operations including but not restricting to hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements and understands service requirements.
  • Plans and schedules work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments, adequate space, and facilities for subsequent performance of tasks.
  • Advises management of current support status and makes recommendations for the resolution of internal problems or scheduling inconsistencies.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or other University emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Trains and informs staff on the proper and safe handling of surplus items and hazardous chemicals, perishable substances, and live animals.
  • Schedules and participates in safety classes yearly.
  • Ensures that customer service delivery is consistent with established business processes.
  • Prepares and files damage claims.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs warehouse layouts to ensure maximum space utilization, safety, and compliance with FIU regulations.
  • Maintains certain reports and records pertaining to the warehouses and web-based auctions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma and five (5) years of related experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of appropriate experience. Related experience includes experience in delivery, receiving, storing, and issuing a wide variety of supplies, material, equipment, etc.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift/push/pull heavy items.
