Third-Party Billing Specialist


The George Mason University, Fiscal Services Department, invites applications for a Third Party Billing Specialist in our Office of Student Accounts.   • Establish and create third-party accounts by reviewing various tuition assistance forms for accuracy, including all Special Arrangement Contract (SAC) waiver paperwork;
  • Process tuition payments via wire transfer notices, wire transfers, checks, and credit card authorizations;
  • Responsible for all aspects of customer service delivery and satisfaction based on established best practices;
  • Agency account reconciliation of debit and credit balances and preparation of refund requests;
  • Demonstrate professional courtesy to colleagues and others. Work with co-workers with development, cross-training, and other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Business or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated customer service and account analysis experience;
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • General understanding of student privacy laws and policy, including FERPA;
  • Working knowledge of Banner applications, or equivalent computer systems.
