Puget Sound ESD is seeking a part-time (18 hours per week) Native American Education Coordinator to provide cultural and educational services to Native American youth and their families in our Pierce County school districts.
The PSESD Native American Education program works with over 600 American Indian/American Native students in four Pierce County school districts (Franklin Pierce, Peninsula, Sumner, and University Place), supporting their educational and cultural needs through one-on-one and group meetings, mentorship, teaching cultural lessons, advocacy, family nights, and field trips. This position would work with students from K-12 at various schools within our program.
PSESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts, charter schools, and state-approved private schools in Washington. Educational Service Districts, created by the legislature, are an essential regional delivery system for early learning and K-12 services in the state. Minimum Qualifications
- BA Degree Social Services, Behavioral Sciences, Native American Studies, Education, or related field. (Community College and/or Vocational degree in same and progressively responsible job-related work experience may substitute for BA)
- Experience serving culturally diverse, under-represented K-12 students and their families.

Work Schedule: Part time school schedule (~6 hours/day, 3 days a week; 111 days/year - total ~674 hours/year).
Salary: $25.14 - $29.15 (salary offers consider candidate qualifications, experience and internal equity). Excellent benefits, including participation in Washington State Department of Retirement System and Tax-Sheltered Annuity Plan.
