Position Overview:
Provide implementation and administration relating to hardware, software, processes and procedures for network, security control, and infrastructure systems within the organization, with a focus on security and availability. Provide escalation support for issues as required. Manage and support servers, network hardware, software, and security devices, systems, and controls.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain network and security infrastructure in alignment with business needs, strategic goals, and IT plan of record.
- Implement and administer network components including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, traffic filtering, intrusion detection and prevention, log collection and analysis, hypervisor and endpoint security applications.
- Work with other IT staff in areas of shared responsibility to ensure design goals and requirements are met.
- Maintain security and integrity of all infrastructure elements and ensure all security processes, procedures, and standards are properly implemented.
- Research and understand current and emerging technologies.
- Recommend enhancements and new solutions to anticipate business needs and cultivate continuous improvement.
- Contribute as an effective team member toward operational and project work. Participate in project manager-led meetings, status updates, and chartering activities.
- Regularly monitor and review system and application health and integrity. Respond, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues, work with appropriate IT staff or vendor support to remediate problems.
- Serve as a first-tier escalation point for user-reported issues. Manage problem and request ticketing a timely and effective fashion while providing an excellent customer support experience.
- Participate in vulnerability management, audit, and assessment efforts as required.
- Follow the prescribed IT Lifecycle Management processes and perform all necessary software, firmware, and hardware maintenance.
- Respond to alert and outage escalation events. This includes response coverage after hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Conduct and/or produce end-user and trainer training for areas and technologies of responsibility.
- Communicate effectively with users at all levels of the organization in the use and troubleshooting of technology and related incidents.
- Appropriately prioritize work, follow prescribed standards and policies including change management procedures.
- Manage vendor relationship including purchasing and maintenance for areas and technologies of primary responsibility.
- Create and maintain security detection and response procedures and playbooks appropriate to the current environment and threat landscape.
- Create and maintain clear documentation, designs, build playbooks, and standards for areas of responsibility.
- Follow the prescribed IT CAB [Change Authorization Board] processes, ensuring policy compliance and effective communication and scheduling.
- Regularly monitor and communicate metrics for areas of responsibility, recommending improvements or capacity changes as warranted.
- Ensure adequate cross training in areas of responsibility.
