HyrdroElectric Plant Mechanic II
Under direction of the Plant Mechanic Foreman, the Mechanic series performs a variety of skilled mechanical maintenance and repair work on hydroelectric generating and pumping plant equipment.
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience which would likely provide the necessary knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Three (3) years varied experience as a journeyman machinist or plant mechanic, maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment related to hydroelectric generating or pumping plant. Annual Step 1 Salary: $87,221.90 Excellent Benefit.

Under direction of the Plant Mechanic Foreman, the mechanic series performs a variety of skilled mechanical maintenance and repair work on hydroelectric generating and pumping plant equipment.
Examples of duties of the Plant Mechanic II include, but are not limited to: Work as a member of a crew engaged in mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and rebuilding of hydroelectric generating and pumping plant equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment. Operate forklifts, overhead bridge and gantry
cranes and perform rigging connected with maintenance. Overhaul and repair of turbines, generators, motors, pumps, compressors, filters, eductors, valves, pipes, penstocks and radial gate drive systems. Perform finish grinding and installation of turbine runners and seals. Design, fabricate and manufacture tools, jigs, and fixtures; fabricate parts from
stock material. Operate precision lathes, milling, boring, radial arm, drill press, and grinding machines. Perform finish structural and pipe welding using MIG, TIG, acetylene and arc welders. Other duties may be required.
Must possess the ability to: Read and understand technical documents associated with mechanical equipment. Apply supervisorial skills for use in a lead position while supervising apprentices. Anticipate problems, develop new approaches and make innovative changes in work methods, techniques, and procedures. Precision align rotating machinery. Use
precision measuring tools. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Regularly and consistently meet attendance/punctuality requirements. Follow instructions, work independently and cooperatively with others.
Typical Physical Activities include, but are not limited to: Travels frequently by automobile in conducting Authority business, regularly uses trucks, cranes, fork lifts, and precision machine tools. Work in extreme temperatures and wet areas. Frequently reach, climb, stoop, kneel and crouch; high level of repetitive motor function dexterity. Must be able to carry, push, pull, and lift equipment and parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Work in confined spaces. Communicate orally with coworkers in face-to-face, one-to-one and group settings. Visual acuity must allow accurate color determination, shades of color differentials, and depth perception. Hearing and vision within normal ranges. With or without correction.
