Distinguishing Features of Work
Under the general direction of the County Administrator (who serves as HRA Executive Director), plans, directs and controls the functions and services administered by the St. Louis County Planning and Community Development Department and, as assigned by the Executive Director, the County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA). The Director develops plans and administers a comprehensive program of County planning activities to ensure the implementation of county policy, organizational effectiveness and fiscal accountability. The Director is responsible for coordinating the development of enterprise GIS Geospatial data and land information portals. The Director plans and oversees strategic and enterprise initiatives that streamline business operations including web services, e-government and innovative projects that strengthen internal and external partnerships.
Selection Process
Minimum Qualifications (Pass/Fail):
- The Planning and Community Development Director position requires a master's degree in public administration, business administration, urban planning or a closely related field; and, seven years of responsible planning and research experience in the field of government or government-related services, of which four years must be at a supervisory level. OR
- A bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, urban planning or a closely related field; and, nine years responsible planning and research experience in the field of government or government-related services, of which six years must be at a supervisory level.
