Salary Range: $87,925.68 /year
Under supervision, the Plumber will perform the full range of skilled journey-level plumbing work. Respond to trouble calls. Inspect buildings, facilities, plumbing systems and components to ascertain required repairs. Troubleshoot, repair and/or renovate buildings, facilities, and equipment in underground piping systems, building piping, fixtures, building equipment and controls. Coordinate services with campus customers and assist with questions regarding work performed. Provide expeditious, professional and courteous customer service.
• Required to work overtime or alternate shifts as operationally necessary.
Possible Work Shifts:
• Sunday - Thursday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
• Sunday - Thursday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm
• Tuesday - Saturday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
• Tuesday - Saturday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm
QUALIFICATIONS
• Proven journey level skills and experience performing modifications, repairs, installations and alterations to plumbing systems and components.
• Demonstrated ability to test, troubleshoot, adjust, and align equipment machinery and plumbing components.
• Proven ability to test and troubleshoot plumbing systems and correct problems when necessary.
• Proficiency in the use of hand tools, silver brazing, welding and soft soldering methods.
• Demonstrated ability to operate all sewer and storm drain cleaning equipment.
• Skill in reading, interpreting and understanding blue prints, diagrams and other technical information to perform needed installations, modifications and repairs.
• Proven ability to document plumbing system changes and/or new installations through written information and/or prints.
• Proven experience planning, scheduling and ordering materials for all types of plumbing jobs.
• Proven knowledge of and ability to use appropriate safety equipment.
• Ability to set priorities and work loads with minimal supervision, and plan work effectively in the field with customers and without direct supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, adaptability, tactfulness and decisiveness. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to a diverse staff and customer population.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
• DOJ/FBI and DMV background checks and clearances required prior to employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
• Must possess a California Driver's License valid for the operation of any vehicle or equipment required to maintain and operate and/or have access to transportation to travel to various campus locations.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces and physically able to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
