Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Butcher to join our team. As a Butcher, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and freshness of our meat products. Your responsibilities will include preparing, cutting, and packaging various types of meat, as well as providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of different cuts of meat, be detail-oriented, and have a passion for delivering high-quality products.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and cut different types of meat, including beef, pork, poultry, and seafood, according to customer preferences and specifications.
  2. Ensure the freshness and quality of meat products by inspecting them for any signs of spoilage or damage.
  3. Package and price meat products appropriately for display and sale.
  4. Maintain a clean and organized work station to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
  5. Provide exceptional customer service by answering customer inquiries, providing recommendations, and assisting with special orders.
  6. Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of meat products.
  7. Collaborate with the team to ensure stock levels are maintained and replenished regularly.
  8. Stay updated on industry trends and new cutting techniques to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  9. Adhere to portion control guidelines for cost efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  10. Assist with inventory management and rotation of stock to minimize waste.

Required Skills

  1. Strong knowledge of different cuts of meat and the ability to accurately and efficiently prepare them.
  2. Exceptional knife skills and the ability to use various cutting and grinding equipment safely.
  3. Excellent attention to detail to ensure the quality and presentation of meat products.
  4. Strong customer service and communication skills to effectively assist customers and provide recommendations.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  6. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  7. Basic math skills for weighing and pricing meat products accurately.
  8. Physical stamina and strength to stand for long periods, lift heavy meat products, and perform repetitive tasks.

Required Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  2. Proven experience as a Butcher or similar role.
  3. Certificate in Butchery or relevant training is preferred.
  4. Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food handling and storage.
  5. Familiarity with the use and maintenance of cutting and grinding equipment.
  6. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  7. Knowledge of industry trends and a passion for delivering high-quality meat products.
